resume vs LinkedIn page

Your LinkedIn Profile Isn't a Resume. It's a Conversion Tool.

April 26, 20262 min read

This week, I did something I hadn't done in a long time.

I became a student again.

I went through LinkedIn Makeover Week: Your LinkedIn Profile – Built to Convert by Social Sales Link — led by Brynne Tillman — and it forced me to rethink something important:

My LinkedIn profile wasn't working as hard as it should be.

The Shift That Changed Everything

Like most professionals, my profile used to read like a resume.

What I've done. Where I've worked. What I've accomplished.

But here's the problem:

Your ideal client doesn't care about your resume.

They care about:

→ "Can you help me?"

→ "Do you understand my problem?"

→ "Is this worth my time?"

So I rebuilt my profile with one goal:

👉 Make it about them. Not me.

What I Changed

Instead of a static profile, I turned it into a scrollable experience — more like a landing page than a résumé.

✅ A banner that speaks directly to business owners feeling stuck

✅ Clear messaging on who I help and how

✅ Featured content that actually guides people somewhere

✅ Services that are easy to understand (and act on)

Every section now answers one question: "Why should this person keep reading?"

The Hard Truth

You can have:

→ A great service

→ Years of experience

→ A strong reputation

…and still struggle to convert.

Because clarity beats credentials. Every time.

This isn't just a LinkedIn problem. It's the same issue I see inside businesses every day. Owners think they need better marketing, more leads, or better staff — but the real problem is that the message isn't clear.

If people don't instantly see themselves in what you say… they scroll. If your value isn't obvious… they leave. If there's no next step… nothing happens.

Take 5 Minutes. Look at Your Profile Like a Stranger.

Ask yourself:

→ Who is this for?

→ What problem does this solve?

→ What should I do next?

If those answers aren't obvious…

👉 That's where your conversions are breaking.

This week reminded me of something I tell my clients all the time:

You don't need more effort. You need better structure.

LinkedIn is no different.

If you've been meaning to clean up your profile — or you know it's not pulling its weight — start there.

And if you want a second set of eyes on it…

You know where to find me.
